Stamford Bridge spectacle – Liverpool and Chelsea 2-2

Chelsea and Liverpool drew 2-2 in the 21st round of the Premier League.

That means both teams now have double-digit lags over City, noting that Liverpool have a game less.

It was the Merseyside team that opened this encounter better.

After less than half an hour of play they had a two-goal advantage. First Sadio Mane took advantage of Chalobah’s error, then Salah masterfully doubled the advantage after Alexander-Arnold’s brilliant pass.

The match appeared to end with that result, but not to be so hard, Mateo Kovacic.

The Croatian international has scored perhaps the most goals of the season so far, which you can see here. Referee Anthony Taylor consulted the VAR room about cancelling out the goal for marking the keeper of the “reds” Kelleher net, but it didn’t happen.

Croatia’s player caught volley from 20 yards and hit the top right corner. The best goal of his career.

Just over three minutes later, a complete return to Chelsea in the match was scored by Christian Pulisic after a fine pass from Kante.

The Blues couldn’t do it anymore, even though, like their opponent, they had a few more chances. The pace dropped in the second half compared to the first part of the game, but far from watching the boring 45 minutes.

Chelsea are currently second with 43 points, one more than third-placed Liverpool.
