Despite some good form leading up to the FA Cup tie, the predicted Liverpool team could see them weakened due to injuries to a pair of crucial stars.
The Reds have been in good form leading up to this game. Indeed, they ended Arsenal’s five-game winning streak on Wednesday night.
Before that statement win, Liverpool beat Brighton 2-0, and despite losing to Inter Milan the game prior, advanced to the next round of the Champions League.
The last round of the FA Cup saw Liverpool beat Norwich City 2-1. Despite some good form in all competitions, Jurgen Klopp’s side will be weaker than usual, thanks to a hamstring injury to Trent Alexander-Arnold. Mohamed Salah is also a doubt after the recurrence of a foot problem.
“Trent is out with a hamstring, so will be out for England too. Not good news, we will see how long it takes. Mo felt his foot a little bit after the game too,” Klopp said.
“We will see how it will take. To replace him [Alexander-Arnold] is difficult but possible. We have [James] Milner, [Joe] Gomez, these kind of things. Trent is so influential but Milner has done incredibly well in the past. We’ll see how Milly is for Sunday.”
It also seems Klopp is not willing to take any chances with his selection. Indeed, Forest downed Premier League opponents Arsenal and Leicester City on the way to facing Liverpool.
“I want a team in Nottingham who are mentally and physically ready. We will be PL team No.4 [after Wolves in the Carabao Cup] they’ve faced so they have not had it easy so far.
“Our former LFC coach [Steve Cooper] is doing a proper job there. If we rotate, it’s just to have the best team possible,” he added.
