‘Perfect to win trophies’ – Tielemans addresses Leicester future amid Liverpool, Man Utd interest

Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans has addressed his future with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool circling him.

Tielemans, 24, has established himself as one of the best players outside of the Premier League’s top six since his 2019 move from Monaco. His winning goal in the FA Cup final last year epitomised his quality and was a monumental moment for the Foxes.

Aside from the Community Shield victory, this season hasn’t lived up to expectations for Tielemans and his team-mates, though.

Having pushed for Champions League football in the past two campaigns, Brendan Rodgers’ side find themselves 12th in the table.

They remain in the Europa Conference League after Europa League elimination. But neither are looking likely for the 2022/23 season.

With Tielemans now into the final 18 months of his contract, fears may be creeping in he could leave the King Power this summer.

The Belgium international is certainly not short of options. Most of the top six have been linked with him at some point or another.

However, he has offered his current club some assurance in a recent interview, as quoted by the Leicester Mercury.

When asked if he sees himself staying put, Tielemans replied: “Yes, why not?

“This is a club where you have the best environment you can have, especially with this new training ground. The people around you just want the best for you.

“It’s brilliant to be here. I really like it here. We’ll see what’s coming in the future.

“But I think the environment is just perfect to win trophies here.

“You can’t predict the future but I think everything around the club and inside the club is made for it.”

Leicester want Tottenham raid

Meanwhile, Leicester are reported to have been in touch with Tottenham regarding a summer swoop for central defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Carter-Vickers has failed to make an impact during his time with Spurs, but is now in demand.

That is down to the fact he is impressing while on loan at Celtic and an orderly queue is starting to form.

The Scottish club have already made it clear they would like to sign him on a permanent basis….
