Luis Diaz has given Liverpool a new dimension and Manchester City are missing that key boost ahead of a massive few weeks, according to Chris Sutton.
The two clubs have forged an intense rivalry in recent seasons for the Premier League title. The battle between the duo took off in 2018/19, when 97-point Liverpool lost out to 98-point City.
Liverpool won the title a year later, but it was then Man City‘s turn to romp to top spot in 2021.
This season, the two clubs a point apart with nine games left. And one of those is a showdown between the pair at the Etihad Stadium.
What’s more, the two clubs will face off for a second time in April. That clash is for a place in the FA Cup final.
Liverpool have long faced criticism for a lack of squad depth compared to City. However, Sutton has claimed that the Reds’ January signing of Diaz is a boost City cannot match.

“He has hit the ground running, he has improved Liverpool, he has given them an extra dimension, can you say the same for City?”
Diaz has scored two goals for the Reds so far, but his work off the ball has also been hailed.
Jamie Carragher added recently that he thinks the arrival of the Colombian international from Porto has given Liverpool a huge lift.
Tottenham and West Ham both came close to signing him in January. However, Klopp’s side swooped in for a long-term target.
Diaz to feature in intense Liverpool, Man City rivalry
Klopp noted earlier this year that Liverpool and City are driving each other to “insane” levels.
And those levels will likely be raised again in the next few weeks. The win for City in January 2019 ultimately turned the title race, but the result’s true impact was unclear at the time.
