The Frenchman asked too much.
French footballer Ousmane Dembélé is unlikely to extend his contract with Barcelona, and the reason why there was no deal lies in the salary he asked for, which the club could not fulfill.
According to some accounts, Dembele’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, asked Barcelona for a gross salary of 40m euros with as much money in the name of a bonus, something the financially shaken club at Camp Nou could not meet.
According to sources, Barcelona has informed Dembele that he has no money as he plans to bring in Erling Haaland, who is certain to end up at one of Spain’s two biggest clubs in the summer.
Dembele, as it stands, will be in the starting line-up from 1 May to 1 May. On January 15th he will become a free agent and enter negotiations with some of the interested clubs, with PSG, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich in line.
It also emphasized that the Frenchman, in agreement with the agent, wanted to negotiate the terms he had set and that no compromise was out of the question.
We’ll see who from January will be ready to give him a concession, which Barcelona clearly couldn’t.
