Arsenal are looking to break the hearts of Chelsea having reportedly enquired about the blockbuster signing of Eden Hazard.
A Premier League return has been rumoured for the former Blues winger in recent months. It comes after a torrid time at Real Madrid, where he has scored just six goals in 65 appearances since his 2019 move for upwards of £100million.
The new financial superpower of Newcastle have been heavily linked with the 31-year-old.
So too have Chelsea, but a switch back to Stamford Bridge looks to be off the cards for now following the sanctions imposed on owner Roman Abramovich.
And the Gunners seem to have pounced on that development, because Foot Mercato claim they are now interested in him too.
According to the French outlet, the Emirates hierarchy have ‘initiated the first contacts’.
However, they do also state that several teams are looking to restart Hazard’s career. So there is plenty of competition for his signature.

What’s more, the Belgium international is said to be fully focused on Real at present.
He’s not currently considering a move away in the summer and wants to fight for his place in the side.
But that is looking like a tricky task. Hazard has been an unused substitute in the last four matches in all competitions.
Vinicius Junior, Marco Asensio and Rodrygo all are ahead of him in Carlo Ancelotti’s pecking order as it stands.
It’s therefore hard to see him not wanting to leave at the end of the season with the way things are.
The Spanish side may also view his departure as favourable, as they can look to recoup some of the huge outlay they made on him three years ago.
Hazard may knock Arsenal back
Hazard’s younger brother Kylian, who represents RWDM in Belgium’s second tier, recently spoke about the situation at Real.
Despite his older sibling’s limited playing time, he suggested he would see out his contract, which expires in 2024.
“He is fine where he is, his family feels good there,” Kylian said (via the Daily Mail). “He has a contract until 2024 and I think he will wait until then [before leaving].
